Welcome Message from Dr AQ Khan

Abdul Qadeer Khan, known as A. Q. Khan, is a Pakistani columnist, nuclear physicist and a metallurgical engineer, who founded the uranium enrichment program for Pakistan’s atomic bomb project. AQ Khan founded and established the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) in 1976, serving as both its senior scientist and Chairman until he retired in 2001. Khan was also a figure in other Pakistani national science projects, making research contributions to molecular morphology, the physics of martensite alloys, condensed matter physics, and materials physics.

Receiving his doctorate engineering in 1972, Khan joined the senior staff of the Physics Dynamics Research Laboratory in Amsterdam from a recommendation by his mentor, Martin J. Brabers. His initial studies were on the high-strength metals used in the development of centrifuges. Gas centrifuges were first conceived by American physicist Jesse Beams as part of the Manhattan Project but the studies were discontinued in 1944. The Physics Laboratory was a subcontractor for Urenco Group which was operating a uranium-enrichment plant in Almelo, Netherlands. Established in 1970, Urenco employed the centrifuge method to assure a supply of enriched uranium for nuclear power plants in the Netherlands. When Urenco offered him to join the senior scientific staff there, Khan left the Physics Laboratory where he performed physics experiments on uranium metallurgy, to produce reactor-grade uranium usable for light water reactors.

Welcome Message from Director

Welcome and thank you for visiting our website. I am extremely proud to be the Director of the Dr Abdul Qadir Khan’s School. It is an exceptional privilege that this name has been lent to us by Dr Abdul Qadir Khan himself, a renowned Scientist of our country and of our times. We take great pleasure in being a School with a strong focus on Science and Technology running through our entire curriculum.
In today’s world it is easy to underestimate the power of Science as it has become such a norm in our everyday life, we forget that 10 – 15 years ago the world as we currently know it, did not exist. Life is faster, more accessible with an instantaneous global outreach. Social media has been brought about via the discoveries of Science and has a definitive impact on our everyday life by forming our thoughts, beliefs, , perceptions, education and decisions.

Science is a part of our daily life. Everything we do and deal with in life is science from cooking, playing ball, understanding how technologies work to watching a rain storm. Understanding science helps children to appreciate and relate to the world around them and teaches more than just the basics of geology, biology, physics and chemistry. It teaches children to make observations, collect information and to use logical thinking to draw a conclusion. These skills are important for every part of our lives and with a good foundation in Science children are more receptive to new technologies and ideas in the future that can stimulate research, development and businesses.

We haven’t neglected the broader curriculum but have worked to develop an innovative and inclusive curriculum which will inspire our learners. As a school we aim to ensure that all our pupils leave as happy, confident, independent learners; celebrating their talents and daring to dream. It is important to us that our pupils enjoy learning and they are inspired to share their knowledge and understanding with others and that it stands them in good stead for a life beyond academics.

Who Are We?

We are a Science, Technology, and English focused School where we inspire each student to achieve the best. At Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan’s School we strive to develop a passion for learning in the pupils that we have the privilege of educating. We achieve this by making their learning as interesting, engaging, fun, meaningful and relevant as possible.

The pupils are provided education within a safe, calm, creative, inclusive and stimulating environment, with a strong focus on Science, Technology and English ensuring children develop confidence and the ability to navigate within these areas effectively.

Every child is valued as an individual; we aim to nurture well rounded, respectful and confident children who develop skills for life-long learning beyond School. We nurture our children on their journey and encourage them to be creative, unique, open-minded and independent individuals, respectful of themselves and of others in our school, our country and the wider world.

Digi and Robotics

Our Digi and Robotics Courses keep our students motivated for learning beyond the boundaries of our regular curriculum. It also includes computer, electronic and scientific skills to understand the present technology.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Studying is an important part of our children’s lives, but extracurricular activities make their personalities stronger by giving them an opportunity to develop additional skills and interests.

Governors

School governing boards work as a team to provide strategic leadership. They work together to ensure high standards of achievement for all in the school and raise pupils’ standards of achievement.

One of the core features of an effective governing board is the importance of having the right people with the necessary skills, commitment and sufficient diversity of perspectives to ensure internal challenges are met with, and all actively contribute in line with clearly defined roles and responsibilities.

What our students say

I am in class 3 and I love this School. My teachers are very helpful and make learning fun. We have special days like the School science days where we get to take part in interesting experiments which teach us about materials, processes and the world around us. I really enjoy these days as the School really encourages us to participate and develop our learning.
